Contemplation of God
If the blazing sun blinds us
When seen in its splendor,
Who will contemplate the One
Who is the Creator of the sun?
Patriarchs could not
Contemplate His face,
Nor did Adam see Him
Before sinning!
Light before which even the sun
Is darkness shining bright!
Our sinful eyes
Cannot behold You!
Fire above the holy ark,
Burning bush of Sinai
Are figures of the glory
Of the Lord and Eternal Father.
For us to have with Him
Open and sweet communion,
Christ, the Son, became flesh,
Became our Redemption!
So that in eternal glory
We may see Him unveiled,
Christ suffered death,
Opening the way to heaven.
