1. I like to sing a hymn
When I feel surrounded by evil,
As I wander like a pilgrim
Towards the heavenly home.
But real pleasure in singing
I feel when I give my praise,
When I sing on the holy day,
Saturday of my Lord.

2. What a pleasure to hear the voices,
Thousands of angelic choirs!
Visible pains, the most atrocious,
Soon I don't feel them anymore.
But real pleasure in singing
I feel when I give my praise,

3. I hear the voice of Nature
Praising the Creator;
I think alone, with such beauty,
How weak my praise is.
But real pleasure in singing
I will have in the home of love,
When praising the holy Master,
Great God and Redeemer.
