The Doll
It was winter, the month of December when I saw the light of day
I was in my blue dress, alongside other toys
Standing in a beautiful showcase inside an emporium
Between Pierrot and his Colombina, I will never know why
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll with patent leather shoes
All the local boys and homegrown girls
Come in here to talk about their playthings
There's a puppet show and a train
Yes, but I only know that my prince will come along
I'm waiting for him all day long
But I am a doll
With a moiré bow
And I want to bring joy to whoever sees me
I see thousands of faces passing by that tell me goodbye
And in one of those gazes at me, I think that I find my love
I want to go through the showcase to be able to fly
Far away from so many cars and trains that spin around night and day
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll with patent leather shoes
All the local boys and homegrown girls
Come in here to talk about the soldier, the rifle
That they want to buy
Yes, but I only know that in the time that has passed
That my prince will return
But I am a doll
With a moiré bow
And I want to bring joy to whoever sees me
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll with a moiré bow
And I want to bring joy to whoever sees me
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll with a moiré bow
And I want to bring joy to whoever sees me
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll with a moiré bow
And I want to bring joy to whoever sees me
I am a doll made of wood and cardboard
My eyes turn, and I sing a song
I am a doll
