When I behold this land so dry
And these fissures gaping in the earth

But I wasn't always a barren place
I was once soil, nurtured by love's embrace
I was once a field cloaked in green, a garden of vibrant flower

If today I am a desert of sorrow's sting
That life's deep sadness has made me dry and low

From a million my eyes did once bestow
