Simão e a Cruz
Gerson Rufino
Simon and the Cross
I was walking down the road
And suddenly, I spotted the crowd
I ran to see what was going on
And then I found out
It was an execution
I got closer and saw a condemned man
Bloodied, carrying a cross
He was being mistreated and hurt
Treated like a criminal
And his name was Jesus
That man could take no more
He fell down, too weak to go on
It was then that a soldier called me
And angrily forced me to carry His cross
And I shouted: You can't blame me!
The crimes of this man
Aren't mine to pay!
I took that cross, started carrying it
Proudly thinking: I have a big heart
I'm helping this poor guy
Who’s going to be crucified without any compassion
With every step I took, I started seeing
I then realized that the guilty one was me
That great pain He felt
Was what I deserved, not the Son of God!
I took that cross, started carrying it
Proudly thinking: I have a big heart
I'm helping this poor guy
Who’s going to be crucified without any compassion
With every step I took, I started seeing
I then realized that the guilty one was me
That great pain He suffered
Was what I deserved, not the Son of God!
Jesus and I carrying that cross
The cross made me know who Jesus was
Jesus and I carrying that cross
The cross made me know who Jesus is
To know who Jesus is
