Rough cross was erected
From it the day fled
As an emblem of shame and pain
But I contemplate this cross
Because on it Jesus
Gave His life for me, a sinner

Yes, I love the message of the cross
Until I die I will proclaim it
I will also carry my cross
Until I exchange it for a crown

On this cross He suffered
And already died for me
My Jesus, to give me forgiveness
And I rejoice in the cross
From it comes grace and light
For my sanctification

Here with Jesus
The shame of the cross
I always want to bear and suffer
Christ comes to take me
And with Him, in the home
I will have a share of the glory
