Ao Pé da Cruz

At the foot of the cross
I found myself kneeling
And so bitter
Such a scene I witnessed
The blood that was flowing
The pain He felt
I confess I cried
The hands there nailed
Bloody wounds
I could clearly see
On that gentle face
The marks of sorrow
Without complaining

I could see
The cruel crown
The horror of bitter gall
His side pierced
The painful nails
His merciful eyes
A Righteous man condemned
The voice that cried out to the Father
Begging for forgiveness
Even almost dying
Suffering anguish
Showing His love

I know Jesus
It is I who deserved
Such agony
You suffered in my place
To bring happiness
To save humanity
You had to pay
A fabulous price
Your precious blood
Of immense value
I do not forget such a scene
Jesus, I do not deserve
Your forgiveness Lord
