Viajando a Pata
El Clavel
Traveling on Foot
Traveling on foot to the city
I gave a wave to an old man and he didn’t take me anywhere
Thanks, sir, I said
As I tipped my hat, the old man laughed
I keep walking, feeling pretty good
Kicking the stones, that keeps me entertained
I see a girl who's all alone
I said, "Hey there, sweetheart," but she didn’t even look
I offered her my oxen and some fat calves
And some little plots of land I have around
And she replies, "Wash your face
Put on some cologne, change your clothes
Then you can talk to me"
So now I keep heading to town
I’m running, that’s how I manage
So much dust, I’m about to fly
My sandals break, but I keep running anyway
All sweaty and feeling pretty rough
I shop in town and then head back
I see women, they whistle at me a lot
I play it dumb and don’t listen to them
Even if they tell me now
"Now you look good
You’re all cleaned up, wanna date?"
I tell them to go to hell, I don’t pay them any mind
I’ve run out of the desire to love
