In the unknown city
I don’t like anything
I always take streets
That go too far
Endless streets
Where I get lost
Quays, avenues
And empty boulevards
Then between two houses
I hear the racket
Of a long train on a bridge
That’s heading somewhere

In the unknown city
Evening and morning
Like that lost dog
I come and go
There are passersby
Who seem to avoid you
And don’t have the time
To give you a smile

In the unknown city
When night falls
I’m scared of the bare walls
The gray walls
I’m scared of that hotel
With the cold bed
And the cruel morning
That will wake me up
Because I want to sleep
Sleep even during the day
With my memories
My memories of love
