Cabo de Guerra
Dhiego Shofar
Tug Of War
There's an age-old battle within the heart
Flesh against spirit, war and decision
Who will you feed in this direction?
Who will go hungry in your intention?
Within me it's a tug-of-war
Within me it's struggle and prayer
One pulls towards downfall and to the ground
The other towards God and consecration
I fell, but I returned
I cried, but I stayed
When I faltered
Grace sustained me
In You I rose
The struggle is within
No one sees, but God sees
Whoever surrenders to the Spirit
Learns to live
Internal war, I want to win
It's me against me, between having and being
But whoever surrenders learns to live
Whoever kneels does not fear losing
Within me it's a tug-of-war
Within me it's struggle and prayer
One pulls towards downfall and to the ground
The other towards God and consecration
Come on, get up from that ground
Life is a tug-of-war, don't give up, no
The flesh is weak, it falls without direction
But the Spirit is ready for action
I fell, but I returned
I cried, but I stayed
When I faltered
Grace sustained me
In You I rose
The struggle is within
No one sees, but God sees
Whoever surrenders to the Spirit
Learns to live
If the struggle exists
It's because the Spirit is there
Feed the Spirit
And I will be in you until the end
There is an age-old battle within the heart
Flesh against the spirit, war and decision
One pulls towards downfall and earth
The other towards God and consecration
Within me it's a tug-of-war
Within me it's struggle and prayer
One pulls towards downfall and earth
The other towards God and consecration
If the struggle exists
It's because the Spirit is there
Feed the Spirit
And I will be in you until the end
There is an age-old battle within the heart
Flesh against spirit, war and decision
One pulls towards downfall and earth
The other towards God and consecration
