Yo Quiero Ser Como Tú

Sitting next to me, a hug he gives
he says daddy, I reply what's up
with his little pillow, he lays down next to me
and says daddy, I want to be like you.

I tuck him in bed and give him a kiss
turning off the light, I say a prayer
so that when he grows up, he sees in me
a father who lives for God.

Lord, I want to be like You
because he wants to be like me
I want to be a good example
that his little eyes can see
Lord, help me teach him
so he can understand
that I want to be like You
because he wants to be like me.

I admit I have a lot to learn
I make mistakes, You know it well
the pressures of life come down on me
I need Your help, I can't do it alone.

I want to strive and learn more from You
be patient and tender, full of love
because he learns from what he sees
may he see Your image, Lord, in me.

Maybe he looks at me saying daddy is the best
but I'm just learning from my Heavenly Father.
