Pierian Muses, renowned and glorious,
To mortals, whom you grace, most desired, diverse,
Giving birth to virtue, flawless in all learning,
Nurturers of the soul, guiding minds with wisdom,
And rulers of thought, powerful in their teaching,
You revealed the rites to mortals.
