The Potter
The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah
"Go down to the potter's house, I have something to say to you."
Jeremiah obeyed and walked on over there
And the potter was at the wheel, watching with care.
But the potter takes the clay, shapes the clay, gathers the clay
Cleans the clay, kneads the clay, working it this way and that
And Jeremiah keeps on watching
His goal was to hear God speak, that was his plan.
The potter takes the clay, puts it on his wheel
Smoothing it with love, he starts to create
When he finished the piece, it still fell apart
And it dropped from his hands, shattered on the floor.
The potter saw the clay and quickly took action
He made another piece, even more beautiful than before
God spoke to Jeremiah: "Because you are faithful
I can do the same with the house of Israel."
