About Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) was an American rock band formed in 1967 in El Cerrito, California. Comprised of John Fogerty (lead vocals, lead guitar, primary songwriter), his brother Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar), Stu Cook (bass), and Doug Clifford (drums), the band became one of the most successful and influential groups of the late 1960s and early 1970s. CCR’s music blended rock, blues, country, folk, and R&B, creating a sound that stood out during the psychedelic era. Their breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album in 1968, but it was their prolific period from 1969 to 1971 that cemented their place in rock history. Hits like "Bad Moon Rising," "Proud Mary," and "Fortunate Son" became anthems, while albums such as Green River (1969) and Cosmo's Factory (1970) topped the charts. The band’s performance at Woodstock in 1969 solidified their status as rock icons. Despite their success, internal conflicts led to their breakup in 1972. Tom Fogerty left the band, and John’s disagreements with bandmates and their record label resulted in legal battles. While CCR never reunited, John Fogerty continued performing their hits in his solo career, and Cook and Clifford formed Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 1995. CCR’s influence endures, with over 45 million records sold in the U.S. alone. Their music remains a cornerstone of classic rock, and songs like "Have You Ever Seen The Rain", "Born on the Bayou" and "Travelin' Band" continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
