Eviction

The rope keeps breaking at the thinnest point.
It's redundant to preach that this is destiny.
Seems like not having money is a crime.
Injustice is worth more than 'Oh, bless!'

The poor wanted a place to live and start
their recovery from there. They knew
their stay was illegal, but with no money, there was no other solution.

Everyone talked about their eviction. Justice
turned into a murderer, cutting short the humble life
of a woman: wrongly applied law ceases to be law.

They didn't come in the name of understanding. There were no
explanations, no feelings. Wearing uniforms
of order and process, a firing squad arrived.

Innocent blood covered us in mourning. The screams of
death woke up a town.
Riddled body, what lesson do you hold: for the poor,
the sky: for the rich, the earth!

She doesn't ask for pity, just your respect, that's it!
We all have the right to live with dignity.
She doesn't ask for privileges, nor does she ask for charity.
This must be clear: without justice, there will be no peace.

If this land is for everyone, don't suffocate it with wire.
To live better, don't let others die of hunger.
Without demagogy or ideology, let the poor enter
the economy. The country is not an estate to be
mortgaged. If Christ is truly coming, better run away,
mate!
