Warrior Heart
A foreigner in my own land, I’ll be of the world
The planet is so old, it’s had a thousand flags in every place
If we all know we’re brothers and sisters
Why do we build barriers and wars?
No one’s good, no one’s bad, not completely
Sometimes fame or power deceive people
There are no friends, no brothers, just fighters
Listen to what’s slipping away
With my eyes closed, I started a journey
After stumbling many times, I crossed the maze
With my eyes open, I wish I could go back
But today I know that place no longer exists
The other day I went by your house but didn’t see you
All around the neighborhood, even in the square, no one could tell me
How you were or where you were at
As I asked about you, I always asked about you
If I’ve hurt someone out of ignorance
If I’ve mistreated someone in a mess
If they can’t forgive me while I’m on my knees
I ask God for forgiveness, not men
With my head held high and my guard up, I’ve got to keep fighting
I’m sure the day of my luck is coming soon
With a child’s faith and a snake’s cunning, I keep working
My luck is on its way
Just a little while passed, and it seems the press found out
If that one’s good or bad, how I dress, how I think, and how I eat
If health has really closed the market
And which artists are going broke
I take a deep breath, and I’m thinking about what I can say
And I look at them, I don’t say anything but I want to laugh
I respond half-heartedly, but I’m thinking of you
I can only think of you
When the cassava has gone bad and I see I have almost nothing left
I reach into my pocket, pull out my knife, and I forgive you
I cut a little just in case
Either you eat from life or life eats you
You’ll be happy or unhappy, however you decide
Mom’s not coming to change your diaper. This is the big leagues
Take care wherever you are, may God bless you
I’m always thinking of you
