The Donkey Will Speak
God is telling you to go, like the prophet Jonah, you want to run away
God tells you to speak, and like Zechariah, you want to stay put
God sends the message, but you try to hide in the cave
You forget that many prophets didn’t want to give in
Not to Jezebel and the gods of Egypt, cheer up, it’s not just you
God enters the pit, God walks through the fire, God parts the Red Sea
God uses a boy to slay giants when there are no warriors around
God uses a donkey, speaks to the prophet when there’s no man for Him to use
If the Lord commands and you don’t want to go, the donkey will speak
God is telling you to go, and which Elisha wants to say goodbye?
God tells you to speak, and just like Moses, you say it won’t work
God commands you to fight, and like Gideon, you want to refuse
I’m too poor, there are richer folks, send someone else in my place
God calls the brave, the mighty man, the warrior of faith and altar
