I can ask you to stay still
Until I finish these words.

Maybe because I'm not a great artist
I can say: 'your painting is ready'
And proudly give you this mess.

Maybe because I'm not of nobility
I can name you my queen and princess
And give you crowns made of cigarette paper.
Maybe because I'm a bad negotiator
I ask for nothing in return for giving you
What little I have, my life and my dreams.

Maybe because I'm not a good soldier
I let you attack from the front and the side
When we discuss our projects.

Maybe because I'm none of that
Is why you're here today in my bed.
