Prayer of Truth
Prayer is not a bunch of words
Or just a time for speaking where I talk to God
Prayer is not a list of requests
Where I express my dreams, involving only myself
Prayer is not just a shout in the air
Where someone kneels to claim what is theirs
Prayer goes far beyond all of that
It's an access to infinity that Jesus gave me
Prayer is a door that opens
Deep within eternity, in God's chamber
Prayer is a treasure map
That reveals the secrets of heaven in its depths
Prayer is permission to access heaven
But if I haven't understood, I can't go in there
Prayer is a key that only children possess
And that's why it begins like this: Our Father
Our Father who art in heaven
Holy is Your name
Your kingdom come
Thy will be done on Earth as it is
In the sky
And that is why I pray, cry, and worship
And the more I pray, the more my ego dies
I'm just human, I live on this plane
But I received power to access heaven
And that's why I pray, leaping for joy
And the more I pray, the less I want to ask
Because only through prayer do I realize that
My need is to stay here, in Your presence
