CORAZÓN POR QUÉ
Carmen DeLeon
HEART, WHY?
Closed curtains and an open soul
Fear came in but shut the door
Yesterday I told myself tomorrow it would all pass
And in the morning the sun came out and I cried again
I already found where the pain hides
I greeted it because it finally has a name
A heart that even when begged doesn’t want to hear
A heart that the more it stays quiet, the more it wants to scream
Why can’t it let go?
Why can’t it forget?
Tired of asking
Why?
I have questions that no one answers
It’d be easier to cry over a man
But crying hurts more when I don’t know why
Why?
Even in my room I feel lost
And the higher it flies, the harder the fall
A thousand hidden wounds
Tell me, heart
Why can’t I let go?
Why can’t I forget?
I’m tired of asking
Why?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
My heart and I haven’t talked again
When we see each other we don’t want to greet
How to tell it that I miss it and it hurts me
That I’m here suffering for it
That days feel like years
I don’t know how to live
If your heartbeat isn’t close to me
Understand, heart, that when I talk to you
Understand that I’m not talking to anyone
I’m talking to myself
Why?
I have questions that no one answers
It’d be easier to cry over a man
But crying hurts more when I don’t know why
Why?
Even in my room I feel lost
And the higher it flies, the harder the fall
A thousand hidden wounds
Tell me, heart
Why can’t I let go?
Why can’t I forget?
I’m tired of asking
Why?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Why?
