The Church in Worship
Eternal Father, your people gathered,
Humbly sing your praise here!
On the day reserved for worship,
With hope we look to you.
Your holy book, O great God, we take
With simple faith and reverent love,
And, as attentive children, we seek
Knowledge in the word of the Lord.
Jesus! We want to receive your counsel
Sitting at your blessed feet,
And being taught by you,
To grow more and more in holy faith.
Removed from the world and its burdens,
We want to rest in you, Lord,
Looking at the rich treasures
In the fullness of your vast love.
Teach your divine Spirit to your own,
Dispel the darkness from these hearts,
And with the light of your heavenly teaching,
Come to clarify the holy instructions.
Revive in us the powers of memory,
For we always want to know more
The King of heaven, the Christ whose glory
Enraptures the holy angels with joy. Amen.
