Brother Francesco once set out overseas
To the lands of Babylon to preach
With his companions on the Saracens' road
They were captured and beaten, poor souls!
Brother Francesco spoke
And preached so well
That the Great Sultan listened
And greatly admired him
He freed him from the chains
So Francesco set out to preach in Babylon
Brother Francesco stopped to rest
And a woman wanted to approach him
Beautiful her face but venomous her heart
With her body she tempted him to sin
Brother Francesco spoke
With you I will sin
He laid down in the fire
Arms outstretched to her
She repented, converted
