I've been lying in the grave for 40 days
And my soul, full of sorrow, hovers above
Walking around the house and all over the homeland
Crying and mourning for the native land
All my paths overgrown with grass
To all my kin, I'll become a total stranger
I'll never sit with you at the table
I'll be in the corner shedding tears quietly

Life was sad, sorrowful, and hard
I committed a great, heavy sin
How much grief we have in this earthly life
People, don't forget about my soul
I've already passed all my trials in heaven
And I don't know exactly where I'll be
My guardian angel walks behind me
Begging God hard for my soul

And I'll try to pray for you all
We'll all be together when that time comes
Family and children, don't forget me
Forget the bad, remember the good
Everything happened in life, but it's all in the past
Parting with you, dear kin
My soul has already flown from the earth

Don't grieve, brothers, sisters, and don't cry, my family
