Les oiseaux {partie 1}
Daniel Balavoine
The birds (first part)
The morning of the new seasons
I go to the banks of the moselle
Watch the birds
They come when I call them
Caress the water with the tips of their wings
And follow the boats
Tired, they give up
And sink into the sky
High to seek air higher
Higher than God decided to kill the wind
Higher than we will be able to go for a long time
It's so far away
Far from me that my disappointed eyes
Blinded by the azure vaults
No longer see them
This morning sitting under the sky
I cry on the banks of the moselle
And I wait for the birds
They say that everywhere it's the same
That they died in their sleep
From having flown too high
Those who were lost
Had to go so high
High that they burned themselves on the Sun
Higher than God decided to kill the wind
Higher than we we'll be able to go before long
It's so far away
Far from me that my disappointed eyes
Blinded by the azure vaults
No longer believe in it
