Rose of roses and flower of flowers
Lady of ladies, lord of lords

Rose of beauty and of appearance
And flower of joy and of pleasure
Lady to be very merciful
Lord to endure pains and sorrows

Such a lord a man must greatly love
Who can protect him from all evil
And can forgive him the sins
That he commits in the world for bad tastes

We must love her greatly and serve her
For she keeps us from failing
From her and from errors she makes us repent
That we commit as sinners

This lady whom I have as lord
Of whom I want to be the troubadour
If I can have her love in return
I give to the devil the other loves
