Un Año Más
Ana Torroja
One More Year
At the Puerta del Sol like the year that was
Once again the champagne and the grapes and the carpet tar are
The firecrackers that erase yesterday's sounds
And they warm up the spirit to accept that now, one more step has passed
And in the clock of yesteryear as from year to year
Five more minutes until the countdown
We take stock of the good and the bad
Five minutes of countdown
Sailors, soldiers, singles, married people, lovers
Andantes and the occasional clueless priest
Between shouts and whistles the little Spaniards, the enormous ones
Shorty, let's do something at a time for once
And in the clock of yesteryear as from year to year
Five more minutes of the countdown
We take stock of the good and the bad
Five minutes of countdown
And although for grapes there are some new ones
We will miss those who are no longer here
And let's see if we who are alive wake up
And next year we will laugh
1, 2, 3 and 4 starts again because the fifth is one and
The sixth is two and so seven is three
And we say to God and say goodbye that next year let's see if instead of a million, there can be two
At the Puerta del Sol like the year that was champagne again
And the grapes and the carpet tar are
