Sonho na mata
Amado Edílson
Dream in the Woods
I was sleeping and I dreamed
In the same dream I heard
A voice saying go
Visit the green woods
Sing a serenade
In the mountains of Pará
I ventured deep into the woods
When I got to the center
I tuned my guitar
Since I was on strange land
I asked the mountains for permission
And sang a song
While I was singing
An Indian came looking at me
And started to speak
Attend to muruquixaba
Come with me to the village
For the shaman has called
Right at that moment
I stopped my instrument
And lost my faith in living
With my guitar by my side
At that moment I was taken
To the shaman's hut
The shaman spoke to me
And said, my friend
Sing a song
I sang and he was delighted
An Indian woman fell in love
And offered her heart
I beheld the beauty
But it was the biggest surprise
That I could ever have
I realized she was beautiful
And another Indian like her
I will never see again
Right at that moment
I asked her to marry me
And the shaman didn’t mind
We got married in the woods
There was a serenade
Of guitar and song
When the party ended
All the Indians left
And I left too
With the Indian through the flora
And right at that moment
I woke up and saw no one
