Four-Legged Angel
On a winter morning, at the end of August
A scrawny little dog showed up in my yard
A puppy, neglected by his owner
Facing hunger and cold, he showed his brave heart
In the cruelest abandonment
I adopted the pup with my parents' permission
Our friendship grew stronger every single day
When love speaks louder, it ignores all reason
He grew big, strong, and beautiful
And since he had golden fur, I named him Lion
He was a loyal companion, always had my back
One day I went swimming with my brothers at the dam
In a slip-up, I started to drown
I cried out, "God help me!" and Lion jumped in the water
And managed to save me
When we reached the shore, he shook off the water, barking
Then he licked my face, bursting with joy
I cried looking up at the sky and thanked for the lesson
God is always ahead to give us protection
